Sechseläuten 2017, monday 24th April
We wish you a nice Sechseläuten festival and looking forward to a long-lasting and warm summer.
We are open from 07:30 am to 4:00 pm. Pharmacy, Doctor’s office and Café.
3.00pm: Sechseläuten Parade
The procession of the guilds to the bonfire comprises 3,500 guild members on foot, 350 horsemen, 50 horse-drawn parade floats and 30 music ensembles. The parade starts at the lower end of the Bahnhofstrasse and finishes at Sechseläutenplatz, where the bonfire with the Böögg is waiting.
6.00pm: The Pyre is Set Alight
The huge bonfire in the middle of Sechseläutenplatz is set alight. Tradition has it that the faster the Böögg’s head – which is packed with firecrackers – explodes, the finer the summer will be.
Approx. 8.00pm: Unofficial Public Sausage Barbecue
When the official part of the event is over, what is arguably the largest barbecue party in Switzerland takes place around the remains of the bonfire. People of all ages assemble on Sechseläutenplatz to barbecue their sausages over the embers of the bonfire.
